SLATER SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING 

NOVEMBER 29, 2007  

A special meeting of the Slater City Council was called to order by Mayor Rick Rewerts at 9:00 P.M. on November 29, 2007 , at City Hall, 105 Greene St. , Slater, Iowa .  The roll being called the following Council members were present and absent:  Present: Dave Cook and Gene Staples.  Via conference call - Mark Pritchard.  Absent: Louise O’Donnell and Don Schick.  Others in attendance were Mary Beth Chinery and Jennifer Davies.  

Mayor Rewerts informed the council that he had called the meeting to discuss the appeal of an unemployment claim of a former employee.  He explained that the meeting time was set due to the time he received the email from the city attorney, 24-hour posting requirement of the open meetings law and the postmark deadline of Friday, November 30, 2007 . 

Discussion ensued pertaining to possible scenarios and outcomes regarding unemployment compensation for Sue North.     

It was moved by Staples and seconded by Cook to cease any further action regarding the unemployment claim involving former employee Sue North.  The motion passed with record vote as follows:  Yes: Staples, Cook and Pritchard.  No: none  Absent: O’Donnell and Schick. 

It was moved by Staples and seconded by Cook to adjourn at 9:08 p.m. , the motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
